post number nine. Indian summer days.

I'm not sure if the above term is racist or how this mini-season- the warm fall weather of September and early October-came to be known as such, but it is my favorite time of the year. The weather is near perfect, while the slowly falling temperatures, the fading minutes of sunlight, and the ripening fruits of the year's harvest beckon the wise to enjoy the warmth before the snow, the sleet, the cold rain, and the general ughness of winter comes.

I live in a society where work is often deterred by the weather, bu rarely determined by it. So the beautiful weekend was spent researching in an archive, or driving to and from the archive. Calendar-wise the previous four days were the best for beginning the great search through a large collection. And moments of mercy emerged along the way, allowing through visits with old friends and explorations of downtown Little Rock, also known as the River Market.

One of the most exciting parts of the weekend, besides the abundance of thesis material, was riding the trolley. Officially known as the River Market Street Rail, division of the Central Arkansas Transit Authority, the new and growing addition of the River Market experience allowed me to park at the Clinton library and ride around the downtown area for fifty cents.
